Beyond Depth Server Hosting

What Beyond Depth is
A challenging exploration pack on Forge 1.20.1: new dimensions, tough bosses, reworked combat, quests, and a vanilla-plus feel. There is no separate Beyond Depth server pack; on Alpenglow you do not need one, the server is built from the pack itself.
Best for: Groups that want vanilla Minecraft with far more to explore and fight, without a tech tree.

How much RAM a Beyond Depth server needs
blueversal recommends 8 GB and a minimum of 4 GB for the client on CurseForge. A server for a group needs a little more headroom than one player's client, so we start you at 8 GB.
You can change the RAM at any time in the panel. If the console shows the server running out of memory or tick times climbing, go one step up. More on sizing in how much RAM a Minecraft server needs.
What a Beyond Depth server costs
One credit is one hour of 1 GB RAM, so a 8 GB server uses 8 credits an hour. A credit costs one cent at the base price and about 0.77 cents in the largest pack. Hours while nobody is online cost nothing, because the server sleeps.
A flat monthly plan with 8 GB costs the same whether you play 13 hours or 300. Pay-per-hour wins until a server runs more than roughly eight hours every day. The full comparison is in the Minecraft server cost guide.
How to start a Beyond Depth server on Alpenglow
- 1Create an accountEmail and password, or sign in with Google. No card. You start with 50 free credits.
- 2Click New Server and search for the packType "Beyond Depth" in the modpack search. The right loader, Forge, and Minecraft 1.20.1 are set for you.
- 3Set the RAMMove the slider to 8 GB. You can change it later.
- 4Start the serverThe download is small, about 40 MB, so the install is quick. The first start still takes a few minutes while the world and the new dimensions generate.
- 5Share the addressEvery server gets its own address. When a friend joins, a sleeping server wakes up on its own; the first join attempt times out while it starts, so reconnect once it is up.
Good to know
- blueversal publishes no separate server pack. Alpenglow builds the server from the pack and leaves out the mods that only belong on a player's computer.
- Beyond Depth updates often; version 13 arrived in October 2026. Alpenglow only updates the pack when you choose to, so a running world stays on its version.
If the pack crashes on start, the server console explains the cause in plain language. The most common reasons for modded packs are too little RAM and a mod that only belongs on the client. The free crash log analyzer reads any log, and our guide on why modpack servers keep crashing covers the rest.

Common questions
How much RAM does a Beyond Depth server need?
8 GB is the right start for a group of friends. The author recommends 8 GB for the client with a 4 GB minimum, and a server carrying several players needs at least that. 6 GB works for two or three players, 10 GB once the group grows or bases get large.
How much does a Beyond Depth server cost on Alpenglow?
At 8 GB the server uses 8 credits an hour, 8 cents at the base price. Three evenings a week of about three hours each, roughly 39 hours a month, come to about €3.10, or about €2.40 with the largest credit pack. While nobody is online it sleeps and costs nothing.
Is there a Beyond Depth server pack?
No, the author does not publish one. On Alpenglow that does not matter: pick Beyond Depth while creating the server, and the installer builds the server from the pack, dropping client-only mods such as shaders and menu mods.
