Spigot Minecraft Server Hosting

The original plugin platform. Battle-tested and widely supported.

What is Spigot?

Spigot is the plugin server software that defined modern Minecraft hosting. Launched as a fork of CraftBukkit, Spigot introduced the now-standard Bukkit API and made plugin development accessible to thousands of developers around the world. Today it is the backbone of a massive ecosystem of plugins spanning every conceivable gameplay style.

While Paper has overtaken Spigot in raw performance, Spigot remains a solid choice when you need maximum compatibility with legacy plugins that have not been updated for the latest Paper internals. Some plugin authors still publish Spigot-only releases, and a handful of enterprise server networks continue to run Spigot-based stacks due to institutional familiarity and long-running test suites written against Spigot's behavior.

Spigot supports the full Bukkit and Spigot API surface, which means virtually every plugin available on SpigotMC.org will work. It also includes BungeeCord support out of the box, making it a natural fit for multi-server proxy networks where consistent API behavior across nodes matters.

For new server owners, Paper is usually the better starting point thanks to its superior performance and the fact that it extends the Spigot API rather than replacing it. Existing Spigot users who want better performance but need to keep their plugin stack intact can often switch to Paper with no plugin changes required.

Alpenglow Hosting supports Spigot with one-click installation and automatic version management. The same credit-based, pay-per-hour billing model applies — you pay only for time the server is active and being used by players. Auto-hibernation ensures you never spend credits on an empty server overnight.
